ACWSC Adds Projects for Children to Website

ACWSC ADDS PROJECTS FOR CHILDREN TO WEBSITE; BIBLIOGRAPHY, LINKS UPDATED

       LITTLE ROCK—The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission has added the first three of six planned craft projects for children to its website, ACWSC Chairman Tom Dupree announced today.

      These projects are intended to help children learn about the Civil War in Arkansas through simple crafts they can do at home or at school.

      The first three projects include:

·         “Make Your Own Underground Railroad Lantern”

·         “Make Your Own Regimental Flag,”

·         “Make Your Own Zouave Fez.”

      The ACWSC also had added many entries to its extensive bibliography of Arkansas books and articles, including a number of citations for theses and dissertations on the Civil War in Arkansas. Those are available at http://www.arkansascivilwar150.com/research-education/bibliography/.

      Finally, the ACWSC has added a number of links to other websites that include information on Arkansas in the Civil War, Civil War-related organizations, and other sesquicentennial sites. Those are available at http://www.arkansascivilwar150.com/links/.

       The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission is housed within the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. The AHPP is the Department of Arkansas Heritage agency responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state’s cultural resources. Other agencies are the Arkansas Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, the Old State House Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and the Historic Arkansas Museum.
