Maj. Gen. Frederick Steele's Union army built a pontoon bridge at this bend in the Arkansas River as they began their final preparations to capture the capital of Arkansas. The site is part of the Little Rock Campaign driving tour.
Go south off Highway 165 on Colonel Maynard Road, then turn onto Willow Beach Road.
